The five Reiki principles in detail

Just for today (Kyo dake wa)

An invitation to live in the present moment. To let go of worries, mistakes, and wishes from yesterday and tomorrow – and experience the power of the here and now.
Daily reminder: Every day is a new opportunity.

Do not anger (Ikaru-na)

Anger is like an inner storm that clouds clarity. This principle encourages us to acknowledge anger and then consciously release it – for more peace and harmony in everyday life.
Practical tip: Take a deep breath when anger arises and exhale it consciously.

Do not worry (Shinpai suna)

Fear robs us of lightness. Usui’s principle reminds us to choose trust over worry. Life unfolds – often differently than we expect, yet always with a deeper meaning.
Visualise it: with every breath, tension can melt away.

Be grateful (Kansha shite)

Gratitude opens the heart and lets even small wonders become visible. When we live with gratitude, we find light and inspiration even in challenging times.
Inspiration: Write down three things you are grateful for each day.

Work diligently (Gyo-o hage me) & Be kind to others (Hito ni shinsetsu ni)

The last two principles remind us to act mindfully and with dedication – at work, in everyday life, and in our relationships. Working diligently does not mean restless action, but wholehearted commitment. Kindness is the language of the soul.
